Hairdressing Apprenticeship

Apprenticeships are open to all young people aged 16/24. The programme leads to a City & Guilds of London Institute NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing and City & Guilds of London Institute NVQ Key Skills Qualifications.

Training is arranged at one of our Training Centres on day release basis, one day per week with four days being spent in a local salon.

The course lasts for approximately two years. Trainees are paid a minimum wage as set by Humberside LSC.

The Level 2 Course Content

Mandatory Units

G1    Ensure your own actions reduce risks to Health and Safety

G5    Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your    organisation

G7    Advise and consult with clients

H6    Cut hair using basic techniques

H9    Shampoo and condition hair and scalp

H10  Style, dress and finish hair using basic techniques

H13  Change hair colour using basic techniques
 

Plus two of the following units
 

H12  Perm and neutralise hair using basic techniques

H15  Perm, relax and neutralise hair

H16  Perm, relax and neutralise African Caribbean hair

G4    Fulfil salon reception duties

G6    Promote additional products or services to clients

G8    Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work

H11  Style hair using basic techniques and added hair

H18  Provide scalp massage services
