Hairdressing

Advanced  Apprenticeship

Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing is open to young people aged 16/24 years.

Learners work towards City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 via NVQ Level 2. Advanced Apprenticeships are also assessed for CGLI NVQ Key Skills.

The Level 3 mandatory units

G1    Ensure your own actions reduce risks to Health and Safety

G6    Promote additional products or services to clients

G9    Provide hairdressing consultation services

H27  Create a variety of looks using a combination of cutting techniques

Plus five optional units, only 1 of which may be chosen from Option Group 2
(all five optional units can be chosen from group 1 if desired)

Option Group 1

H23    Provide hair extension services

H24    Develop and enhance your creative hairdressing skills

H25    Style and dress hair to achieve a variety of creative looks

H26    Style and dress long hair

H28    Provide colour correction services

H29    Perm hair using a variety of techniques

H30    Colour hair using a variety of techniques

H31    Provide corrective relaxing services

H33    Style hair using thermal techniques

H35    Create complex styles using African Caribbean styling techniques

H36    Style hair using lockspring techniques

BT20  Provide Indian Head Massage treatment

Option Group 2

G10    Support customer service improvements

G11    Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business

H32    Contribute to the planning and implement of promotional activities

The Key Skills Units are:

1. Communication (Level 2)

2.Application of number (Level 2)

Training will take place at one of our Training centres one day per week on a day release basis, the apprentice will also work in their employers salon.
