A2 Assessing Candidates Performance through Observation L3 This award is suitable for those people who will be assessing learners who are working towards competence based qualifications such as NVQs. It covers the assessment of learners by watching them in the workplace. The A2 Award is appropriate for the assessor candidate if their role involves: Assessing candidates against the agreed standards Planning assessments with candidates Giving feedback to candidates on your assessment decisions The A2 Award is made up of 4 elements each of which relates to a part of the assessment process. In order to achieve the A2 unit, the activities the assessor is likely to be involved in are as follows: Watching staff members in line with agreed assessment plans Assessing learners performance Assessing learners knowledge and how they apply their knowledge Making a record of your assessment decisions Working with other people who are affected by the assessment process, such as line managers or supervisors Giving feedback to learners Agreeing and reviewing plans for assessing candidates performance Assessing candidates performance against the agreed standards Assessing candidates knowledge against the agreed standards Making an assessment decision and giving feedback To complete the A2 unit assessor candidates need to undertake the following 4 tasks: Task 1: Agreeing and Reviewing plans for assessing candidates performance Task 2: Assessing candidates performance against the agreed standards Task 3: Assessing candidates knowledge against the agreed standards Task 4: Making an assessment decision and giving feedback You must have access to N.V.Q candidates to achieve this award.
